Can a mobile mechanic fix a breakdown?

Some breakdowns can be diagnosed and repaired where the vehicle is parked, including certain battery, starting, ignition, cooling-hose and minor component faults. Internal engine damage, transmission problems or unsafe roadside locations may require towing.

Tell us what happened

• Did the engine crank, click or remain silent?
• Were warning lights displayed?
• Did the vehicle stop while driving?
• Was there smoke, heat, smell or fluid?
• Has it recently been serviced or repaired?

Roadside safety comes first

If the vehicle is exposed to traffic, in a dangerous position or showing signs of fire, move yourself to a safe place and contact emergency or roadside services as appropriate. Repairs should only occur in a safe work area.
